Individuality

We love coffee and the individuality it offers.  We cater to the coffee connoisseurs in our Customers.  We believe coffee in this single-serve pod format is our opportunity to match the individual coffee lover -- unflavored, flavored, decaf or not --- with the whole experience of a single cup.  Open that wrapper just under your nose and gently inhale the aroma....mmmmm...and the other half of the "experience" is just around the corner when it's brewed and meets your palate!

Each pod is individually-wrapped in an airtight foil wrapper with 99+% of the flavor-robbing oxygen flushed out with nitrogen and its natural preservation quality.  The coffee remains fresh for 12-18 months.  Some other brands package pods "naked" (without being individually-wrapped) and co-mingled in a bag.  When the bag is opened for the first time, every pod inside begins its contact with that flavor-robbing oxygen no matter how well the bag is resealed or stored.  Each successive pod used from that bag receives more exposure to the air resulting more of a stale flavor.  Express the importance of individuality with an individually-wrapped pod.

 
Size

Our pods are approximately 60 mm in diameter.  The coffee pods weigh about 10 grams and the tea pods weigh about 7 grams.

Aroma

Next to the flavor, enjoying the fresh aroma of the coffee when the wrapper is opened is a wonderful experience for your nose.  This is an exceptional difference that the pod format offers over coffees that are sealed in a plastic cup.  Enjoy the aroma before and after the brew!

Environmentally-friendly

Used JavaPodz are biodegradable and environmentally-friendly.  Don't throw used JavaPodz away...provide them a new home in the soil of your garden!

 

Ingredients

The coffee is 100% arabica.  The flavorings contain no sugar, no carbohydrates, and a nutritionally insignificant amount of a calorie (much less than one).  While we'd like to say that there are no calories, we wouldn't be completely accurate as all things digestible derive energy from a calorie, no matter how small it may be.

Storage, Part 1:  One (JavaPodz) Pod versus Two

Some pods are about seven grams and are designed to produce a four-ounce cup.  Making an eight-ounce cup requires two of those pods.  One 10-gram JavaPodz pod is all that's needed for an eight-ounce cup.  During the brew, the JavaPodz coffee (or tea) only passes through one layer of filter paper; using a stack of two pods has the coffee or tea in the top pod passing through the bottom filter paper of the top pod, the top filter paper of the bottom pod, the saturated coffee or tea of the bottom pod, and then the bottom filter paper of the bottom pod (whew!).  This probably explains the necessity for an extra four grams to make up for the coffee flavor quadruple-ly filtered out.

Storage, Part 2:  One and Flat

For an eight-ounce cup, one JavaPodz pod for occupies about half the space as two seven-gram pods.    Also, a supply of our "flat" format pod stores much more efficiently than the tall plastic-cup formats.  This is why we can pack many JavaPodz in a shipping box and pass the savings along to our Customers.

Boxes or Bags:  Packaging JavaPodz

Our bags of 15 pods are carefully deposited by hand (not machine) into a gusseted-bottom, double-track-zipper, reclosable poly bag approved by the FDA and USDA for food contact.  We do offer other packaging options such as storage/gift tins, 10-pod SFI (Sustained Forest Initiative) cubes, and as bulk (individually-wrapped pods separately loose in a shipping box).

100% vs. Blends

All JavaPodz unflavored coffees that include the name of a country or Hawaii are 100% of that variety and not a blend. 

For example, other brands often blend Kona to bring its price down to the average of most coffees but hold out that perception of quality.  Why blend 10% of an excellent coffee with 90% of who knows what?  Who even knows the quality of that 10% Kona?  We don't feel it does justice to the excellent quality and reputation of Kona to blend it.
